High Energy Physics Advisory Panel; Meeting

AGENCY: Department of Energy.

ACTION: Notice of open meeting.

SUMMARY: Pursuant to the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee 
Act (Pub. L. 92-463, 86 Stat. 770), notice is given of a meeting of the 
High Energy Physics Advisory Panel.

DATES: Wednesday, February 18, 1998; 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and 
Thursday, February 19, 1998; 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

    Purpose of the Meeting: To provide advice and guidance on a 
continuing basis with respect to the high energy physics research 
program.

Status Report on the Office of Energy Research
Discussion of National Science Foundation Elementary Particle Physics 
Program
Discussion of DOE HEP Program and FY 1999 Congressional Budget Request
Report of the Subpanel on Planning for the Future of U.S. High Energy 
Physics
Report of the NRC Committee on Elementary Particle Physics
Discussion of HEP Programs at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, 
Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, Brookhaven National Laboratory, 
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and Argonne National Laboratory 
and the FY 1999 Congressional Budget Requests
Reports on and Discussions of Topics of General Interest in High Energy 
Physics Public Comment (10 minute rule)

    Public Participation: The two-day meeting is open to the public. 
The Chairperson of the Panel is empowered to conduct the meeting in a 
fashion that will, in his judgment, facilitate the orderly conduct of 
business. Any member of the public who wishes to make oral statements 
pertaining to agenda items should contact the Executive Secretary at 
the address or telephone number listed above. Requests must be received 
at least 5 days prior to the meeting and reasonable provision will be 
made to include the presentation on the agenda.
    Minutes: Available for public review and copying at the Public 
Reading Room, Room 1E-190, Forrestal Building, 1000 Independence 
Avenue, S.W., Washington, D.C. between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday 
through Friday, except Federal holidays.
